Farmhouse...COLOR

Image
Of course when talking farmhouse style these days only one name comes to mind for most people... Joanna Gaines. She has of course melted our hearts with her room designs and has us drooling over her paint colors! So I thought what better knowledge than her 25 paint line colors matched to benjamin moore colors! (Don't worry, you can thank me later) and please remember to use these images only for reference! Go into a benjamin moore dealer and look at the color IN PERSON, then take that color home and look at it in your lighting! Just because you like a color in an image doesn't mean it will look the same in your space! These colors (all colors) will change with lighting so be cautious and have fun playing with color!

Farmhouse

How to add a little farmhouse flare to your home. It's all the rage right now as a go-to for decor. It's smothering HGTV episodes and can easily be incorporated in to your everyday! One of my favorite farmhouse decor options is exposed beams. Here's a quick story for you...I live in an older home with popcorn ceilings! Of course someday I eventually wanted to scrape, sand and retexture them but after our kitchen remodel on the other side of the house, I knew how messy that was! When my kiddos were babies the 3 of us flew to Colorado to visit my family. My husband is a teacher and couldn't get the time off so he stayed behind. Upon arriving home from a week's vacation, he had a "surprise" for me! I walked into the living room to find he had installed wood beams to our ceiling!!! We had always talked about the idea of doing so but I was hesitant to do it with popcorn ceilings. I didn't want to draw attention to my ceilings. Low and behold I didn't

July color of the month

Image
This month the 15th falls on a Sunday so my post is a little early but that doesn't falter my excitement for this months color! This hot summer month of July I chose another C2 color called SECRET #547. It is a soft blush that we are seeing coming up the ladder of trends ie.Lighting. I like that this color can be paired with soft whites or bold graphics and have two completely different looks. I think this feminine color would be perfect in a sunroom with a lot of natural light or even in your half bath with artificial lighting. Stop in today to our grand forks location and take a peek at this subtle beauty!

Stain

Let's start with a fun fact: we live in North Dakota. North Dakota sees a majority of the winter season throughout the year, which let's be real... is not ideal weather for stain. I'm talking sitting ice, snow and high winds. Then we switch to direct sunlight for the remainder of the months. Because of these weather conditions and actually ANY weather conditions, it's important to be in the know! In a world of exterior stain, SIKKENS Pro Luxe is KING. This statement stands true even for us up north!  Sikkens ProLuxe is an oil based stain that is used in several different scenarios. The most common use is for decks and for that I would recommend SRD. SRD stands for Siding, Railing and Deck. SRD is a transparent matte finish and the reason it is so good for your horizontal surfaces is the no film build to it meaning the product is excellent for traffic without becoming slippery. The downside is that it doesn't offer a whole lot of color.  There are 8 pre-mix col
