Color

Color is a tricky thing. Everyone sees color differently and some not at all. I would say I am one of the blessed ones where I am able to see color very detailed, hence being a color consultant. The best way to describe it would be to say that in comparison to others, I can see the undertone more vividly. I can tell when an off-white is too yellow or a gray too blue, etc.
Color inspires me daily and not just on my walls but also in my closet. Neutrals sometimes can seem easier to wear and invest in and I'm all for that, but if that's your go to then colorful accents are a must.  Think of a fun print for a shoe or a bold color for a necklace!

Same resoning applys to the interior of your home. Neutrals on the wall allow for more colorful accents. A colorful print on the wall or pillow on the couch is a great place to start. The important thing to remember about your neutral on the wall is that it will have an undertone. The lighter the color the more the undertone is visible. Try to decide what you would RATHER see. Do you tend to be drawn more to blue or green, yellow or red?

For example this past summer my husband offered to paint our living room, which hadn't been painted since we moved in. I kept complaining that the color was too yellow, brought home BM Stone Hearth to try and warm the space up since it is one of my favorite colors, stone hearth looked purple on my wall. YIKES! so I thought now what do I do? I brought home a few more samples and always liked my exsisting color more. So even though I thought I wanted to go more gray, I ended up happier with what I had. My husband was glad he didn't have to paint too! Just remember to do your research and never assume you'll like it!
